Creating Custom Email and SMS Templates
Your communications should feel personal. Here's how to customize every message guests receive.
Available Templates
Emails you can customize:
- RSVP invitation
- RSVP confirmation
- RSVP reminder
- Wedding update announcement
- Thank you message
SMS you can customize:
- RSVP reminder
- Event reminder
- Day-of message
Accessing Template Editor
- Go to Dashboard > Settings > Messages
- Select the template to edit
- Make your changes
- Preview before saving
- Save template
Personalization Tokens
Use these to automatically insert guest information:

Example:
"Dear {firstName}, you're invited to {partnerNames}'s wedding!"
Becomes:
"Dear Sarah, you're invited to Alex & Jamie's wedding!"
Email Template Structure
Each email template has:
Subject Line
- Keep under 50 characters
- Make it clear and enticing
- Include your names or wedding reference
Header/Greeting
- Personalized greeting
- Sets the tone
Body Content
- Main message
- Key details
- Call to action
Footer
- Your names
- Website link
- Unsubscribe link (automatic)
Writing Great Email Content
RSVP Invitation Example:
Subject: You're Invited! Alex & Jamie's Wedding
Dear {firstName},
We're getting married, and we can't imagine celebrating without you!
Please join us on {weddingDate} at {venueName} as we begin our journey together.
Kindly let us know if you can attend by {rsvpDeadline}.

SMS Template Tips
Character limit: 160 characters is one message. Longer texts cost more.
Good example (145 chars):
"Hi {firstName}! Reminder: Alex & Jamie's wedding RSVP due {rsvpDeadline}. Let us know if you can make it! {rsvpLink}"
Include:
- Personal greeting
- Clear ask/info
- Link if needed
- Your names
Avoid:
- Long links (we shorten automatically)
- Too many details
- Formal language
Preview and Test
Before sending to guests:
- Click Preview to see rendered template
- Check personalization tokens work
- Click Send Test and enter your email
- Review on both desktop and mobile
- Fix any issues
- Save final version
Template Versioning
Why keep old versions:
- Compare engagement rates
- Revert if new version underperforms
- Track what you've sent
To save a version:
- Make your edits
- Click Save as New Version
- Name the version
- Previous version is preserved
Brand Consistency
Keep messages aligned with your wedding style:
Match your website:
- Use similar language/tone
- Reference your wedding colors
- Include your hashtag if you have one
- Use the same names consistently
Match your invitations:
- Formal wedding = formal emails
- Casual celebration = casual tone
- Keep the vibe consistent
